A collaboration between Composure and Printmaker Scout Dunbar
Our Constellation Series features a full-wrap scarf in black, raw-edge cotton gauze, cut and layered to drape perfectly around the neck. A soft and starry accent panel in black crépe de chine lines the top of the scarf, designed by Brooklyn-based printmaker Scout Dunbar. The scarf is sold on both on its own and together with a framable print of the constellation design.
Each Constellations Series scarf is hand cut and sewn to thoughtfully angled dimensions, producing unique layers and folds as it hangs. The starry accent is custom-printed onto crêpe de chine; we chose a soft blend that mimics silk but maintains a softer feel in midnight black ink. Each is handmade in our studio in Manhattan's Lower East Side.
About the printmaker
Scout Dunbar is a visual artist working out of Brooklyn, NY. Her focus is in printmaking, drawing, and mixed media on paper. While completing a fellowship at The Ink Shop Printmaking Center in Ithaca, NY, she began a series of constellation drawings that she continues to develop today. She uses this series as an opportunity to investigate line, form, shape, and story telling; these works pay homage to the childhood lessons her father taught her of the stars and mysterious night sky.
